
$4.5 million charitable trust funds scholarships- Christine Ackers Cagle ‘35 and her late husband, Gene, established a charitable remainder trust that provided a stream of payments for their daughter throughout her lifetime. Ultimately it benefited Mrs. Cagle’s most cherished causes, TCU and University Christian Church. TCU’s share amounted to $4.5 million and will support a key campaign priority, scholarships. Bequest endows fellows position at the new John V. Roach Honors College- Ronald L. Pitcock, director of prestigious scholarships / assistant director of Honors, has been named the J. Vaughn and Evelyne H. Wilson Honors Fellow. The position is named in recognition of the parents of the late James “Tony” Wilson, Jr., ’63, and helps to launch the John V. Roach Honors College, which will open next fall. Dr. Pitcock is using the funds from the endowment to enhance teaching and learning for Honors students. Read more.
EOG Resources, Inc. doubles geology graduates’ scholarship- A young alumni couple, Casey and Amy Atamanczuk Patterson, are enabling geology students to have a once-in-a-lifetime international experience through the annual TCU-in-Scotland program, while honoring one of their favorite professors, Dr. John Breyer. $6.4 million in bequests from Tony Wilson endows five positions- James “Tony” Wilson, Jr., ’63 made a provision in his will that has enabled the Neeley School of Business to reward two exemplary faculty members with professorships, and to create a chair that brought a renowned new faculty member to TCU. Following the initial bequest, an additional $1.2 million has come to the University through Mr. Wilson’s estate. That bequest established two endowed positions at the John V. Sebert Pate helps address nursing shortage through scholarships- “This scholarship is making a difference in my life,” says Chasity Jones, a junior from Dallas. Chasity and dozens of other undergraduate minority students majoring in nursing have benefited from the generosity of Sebert L. Pate. Now Mr. Pate has endowed the Sebert L.
